Special Education Advising
From the start of your family’s journey into the world of special education to the first day of school, allow us to help you understand how to navigate the transition from regular education to a more supportive environment for your child. Services include how to receive services from your school district, finding the right professionals to evaluate your child, referrals to specialists, understanding your child’s evaluations, and finding good school and support services so your child can thrive.
We will stay with you throughout the process, helping you understand in clear terms, what options would be well-suited for your son or daughter. And it doesn’t end there! We can continue to be a resource for you once your child has found their new school home.
Speech-Language Evaluations
Do you or your child’s school have concerns about the way your child speaks (articulation), their language understanding (comprehension or receptive language), or their written or spoken language (expressive language)? If so, we offer comprehensive speech-language evaluations which are designed to identify strengths and areas of need, clarify concerns, and help families identify the best approach to help their child.
Evaluations take place either in your home (NYC only) or via Telehealth. A full written report will include level of functioning within each area of speech and language and, if appropriate, goals for your child’s therapist or school to use to help your student progress. Once the evaluation is written, parents will meet with the evaluator online to review the outcome of testing and to receive recommendations.
